OTHER PROGRAMS
Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Healthy Waltham has focused its energy and resources on alleviating the immediate threat of hunger in our city. We have chosen to suspend our non-food distribution programs in order to better meet the demands of these unprecedented times. We also believe that the pandemic will present new opportunities, challenges and priorities for our community; as the COVID crisis recedes, we will not return to “business as usual”. For example, the Greater Boston Food Bank projects that food insecurity resulting from the pandemic will continue until 2023. Healthy Waltham is therefore undergoing a period of needs assessment and strategic planning.
With the guidance of our board and the input of those we serve, we are examining our mission and goals and working to answer questions about our future and the future of Waltham, including:
• How can Healthy Waltham have the greatest impact on the residents of Waltham?
• How can we increase the resilience of our residents and create a more equitable community?
• What infrastructure, partnerships and resources do we need to create lasting change?
We look forward to sharing our plans with you as they progress.
